For over 75 years Lummus Technology Heat Transfer has provided the process industries worldwide with the design and supply of shell and tube heat exchangers using the most advanced technology.

High pressure shell and tube design incorporates the Lummus Advanced Breech-Lock Exchanger^TM (LABLEX^TM) closure technology which has already been in operation for over 35 years. More than 500 high pressure heat exchangers with Lummus Breech-Lock closures are in operation, globally. LHT continues to develop the Breech-Lock closure and has added a number of mechanical design features to improve the performance and reliability even further.

LHT has been innovative in developing a wide variety of high pressure and high temperature heat exchanger designs. The designs include the selection of manufacturing techniques to avoid hydrogen/temperature embrittlement cracking of base material and disbonding of stainless steel weld overlay.

Principal features of the Lummus Advanced Breech-Lock Exchanger design are its reliable sealing of high pressure-high temperature fluid flows, easy dismantling for inspection and reassembly, the avoidance of high stressed zones in pressure parts, and the flexibility for re-tightening inner seals even during operation.
